Private & Group Tours in Prague | Czech Republic | Central Europe

Prague Old Town, Jewish Quarter & New Town (Right riverbank)

Tour Description

The Prague Old Town (Staré Mesto), founded in 1234, was the first of Prague's original five towns. Staré Mesto's ancient streets, most meandering around Old Town Square, are lined with many Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque and Classistic buildings, churches and theaters forming a huge museum of architecture under the open sky. As the hour approaches you will get to see a spectacle at the Astronomical Clock, one of Prague´s main attributes, taken straight from the middle ages. We will also visit the unique Jewish quarter - Josefov (on you wish with or without interiors) - which kept its unique heritage during WWII; the oldest preserved synagogue in Europe is to be seen in Prague!

The New Town (Nove mesto) was founded in 1348 by Charles IV just outside the city walls of the Old Town (Staré Město). Prague became the 3rd largest city in Europe (after Rome and Constantinople- nowadays Istanbul). New Town's landmark is Wenceslas Square - the most famous square in the whole country for all the decisive revolutions of the 20th century took place right here. There is not a better place in Prague where you can learn about the foundation of Czechoslovakia, WWII period, Communist regime, Velvet revolution and the Velvet divorce (the split of Czechoslovakia).

SPECIAL OFFER: book both the left and the right riverbank tours and get a 40 min romantic boat ride under the Charles Bridge and through the so-called Prague Venice Canal with refreshments for free (this offer cannot be combined with any discount and only applies if your group is not larger than 4 people).

CommentsMONEY SAVING TIP: In Prague, we highly recommend choosing our unique walking tours (rather than driving tours), for the most interesting places in the historical center are accessible only for pedestrians. One can always use public transportation or take a taxi which will be much cheaper than hiring a car and a driver.
