Karlstejn Medieval Castle

Tour Description	The Karlštejn castle it is one of the most famous castles in the Czech Republic. It was built by the Czech King and Roman Emperor Charles IV in 1348 as a place of safekeeping for the royal treasures, especially Charles's collection of holy relics and the coronation jewels of the Roman Empire. The tour of the castle includes historical interiors of the Imperial palace and the lower floors of the Marian tower with valuable equipment from the 14th to 19th centuries. HIKING: The Castle is situated in a wonderfull nature reserve along the Berounka river with many hiking trails so if you want to make a whole day trip combining a visit of the medieval Karlstejn castle and hiking then this tour is perfect for you.

Additional Info	The castle is situated on a hilltop and one has to climb a steep road for about about 1 km. One can either walk, take a taxi or a horse carriage. Below the castle there is a small village full of souvenir shops and local restaurants where we can stop for traditional Czech lunch.
